The BEST and MOST affordable resort spot in Illinois for a short mother and son getaway! We stayed here for 2 nights 3 days and had so much to do from swimming, using the whirlpool, playing ping pong, playing an oversized Connect Four (my sons favorite childhood game), shooting basketball hoops, playing pool, playing in the arcade, taking a walk to the Fox River (which was AMAZING and such a breathless sight!), pedal boating, playing mini golf (which was so much fun!) and when the weather got cold at night, we went into the indoor pool! The amenities and grounds were so well-kept. We stayed in Lodge 22 in two queen beds with a fully stocked kitchen; the room was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. Can you believe, all this for $250!!! We didn’t even have time to visit Cays Water Park. And the staff at the reception desk were helpful and welcoming. There weren’t any restaurants at the resort, but that didn’t matter to us; we brought all our food due to our dietary restrictions. I can’t tell you how impressed I was with Fox River Resort! This is the place to be if you want to be out in nature and off your devices! I will definitely be returning and bringing more people with me. I highly recommend this place!

Wrong room advertised on website. We got a cabin looking room compared to the white colonials advertised. Even though the room is cute, our room had old balloons on the floor. Cobwebs and tape were left all over the walls (as if a party was there previously). The manager of facility had an old party bag left in our cabinet with her name on it… The water park is a separate charge, which is also not on the website provided. THEY INITIALLY TOLD US THEY CHARGE FOR TOWELS, so try your best to stay clean and not lose or get them stolen. We have contacted guest relations multiple times to have management contact or help us with resolutions that DO NOT suffice for our standards. Guest relations and the leadership have hung up on us multiple times and NOT returned our phone calls. Very disappointed with the outcome. Do not recommend staying here or with any holiday inn.

Would not recommend to go here. The dishwasher was full of black mold. They never cleaned the bathroom from the last use because there was feces all over the bathroom. Also the location is far from anything and they charge for every little thing.

Decent, “studio” room suite. Property was well maintained, but most activities were unavailable. Also, BEWARE they will hold your room deposit a full 2 weeks before releasing the deposit. Be sure to check your account for other unauthorized charges and fees as well.

Clean outdoor pool, hot tub, and activity center. Extra fee for water park open only Th-Sun. Building was more like a log building foe our unit as pictures show the other president lakeside colonial building. Indoor pool was not open. Middle of farm fields but decent resort to relax. Activity center had tennis court mini golf basketball volleyball pool table.

Used RCI exchange and would never stay again. Expensive hidden fees, poor layout for rooms, and most of the place looked abandoned and run down/broken/caution tape on many of the rooms.

2 bedroom 2nd floor - enjoyed stay overall - nice unit, fully enjoyed balcony for morning coffee, general relaxing while watching the occasional golfers, beds were comfortable, kitchen has most essentials, den furniture was very uncomfortable, (only a sofa and single chair for 6 people). Worst thing about whole week was "noise pollution". Quiet Hours were not observed by all neighbors. Loud screaming, teens drinking beer, partying right next to bedrooms at 1 am. 2nd bedroom bed up against outside stairwell (you are awakened by most anyone using it; loud talking, struggling with luggage, etc. Noise from unit to unit is horrible also.

We were there for one week and did not have time to do everything. There is golfing, swimming, water park, basket ball, tennis and many more activities. I would advise families to bring their children, we will be back again.
